Ridiculousness in China

1. The other day I saw a person bicycle riding with a face mask (to protect against swine flu) that was inside of a sports face mask holder. Maybe like you would buy a sports band to hold your iPod on your arm but it's function is to hold your face mask to your face during extreme activities...bicycle riding.

2. Last week we couldn't see more than 100 ft. in front of us and I thought it was a weird fog (it rained during the day). In fact this black mass was a thick layer of particulate matter. Here's a time article about it. http://www.time.com/time/world/article/0,8599,1905736,00.html

To Houston!

I got a job on Friday for a NASA subcontractor located in Houston, TX. I will be working at or near the Johnson Space Center doing stress analysis for hardware, etc that supports the ISS, shuttle, and Constellation programs. 

The job starts June 15th, so I am going to be leaving WL pretty quickly. Just wanted to keep yall informed. My plan of moving as far away from Joe and Kata is nearly complete!

It's a little slow at first (start with parts 15) but if you can get past the 9 minute description of the structure of the California university system I promise you'll laugh out loud a lot. At one point I'm pretty sure he blames Rhianna (and the evil Rain Man entity who possesses her) and Jay-Z for the global recession and gas prices.

Deductive reasoning skills (empty hair dye box, glove with dye on it in the garbage) not a change in appearance told me sara dyed her hair today. Should I a.) compliment her on it "Hey the newly dyed hair looks great!" b.) ignore it altogether since that's how I treat most of our relationship?

Memorial Day Weekend

I know Memorial Day weekend plans for most of you are up in the air (weddings, possible jobs etc), but I thought I'd put this out there. Come visit Minneapolis!

Nate will be here that weekend and although you might have been here a few times, you haven't actually seen anything! Trust me, its going to be a great time. Bike rides to lakes, swimming, free music and brewery tours. Plus Nate and I.

Party.

I'm having a welcome home from China party for myself Sept. 5th and or 6th (Labor day). You guys should all make plans to come. More details to come closer to the date of the party.

Fun in the Sun in August

Okay, guys while I do think we should hang out memorial day weekend if possible this is a very different proposal. So for Eric's birthday (August 7) we were thinking of going down to Florida to see the shuttle launch. They are retiring the shuttle soon so this is pretty cool and launches are really cool to see - i've seen them, trust me :) . My parents own a timeshare down there and we want to rent one of the rooms. We get a 25% discount. The place is really nice, has a hot tub, pool, its all oceanfront (seriously like 50 ft from the ocean).

So it would cost ~$35 person per night but if someone wants to come and can't afford that much we would definitely help out. There is a kitchen in the room so we could save lots on food. I think flights to orlando are always pretty cheap....$150-$200 round trip

I know it will be hot as hell in august in florida but its right on the ocean so i think its a lot better and the water would actually be warm! We would probably go down Wed Aug 5th after work and come back either Sunday night or Monday morning (Aug 10th) and have a half day at work. So it would be 2 1/2 days off or less if you can flex it or something like that.

So if anybody is interested or even if you are not interested please let me know...we kind of have to book the room in advance...don't feel bad if you don't wanna go, I realize its a decent amount of money and may not be convenient, etc.... if people wanna go and try to find lower cost housing that could be an option too.

all right, i know its been a long time since i posted....please forgive.

So I am wondering if we can get together in Chicago the first weekend of May. The Museum of Science and Industry is having an exhibit on a green house...you know green technology and all that... and ALSO simultaneously will have a Harry Potter exhibit. and hopefully the star trek movie will be out by then which i am determined to share with kata since it is her only childhood pop culture memory. also what about august. minnesota trip? ok that is all.
