You guys remember the road we drove on to get to the super windy outlook thingy and the flood lines on the wooden post?? Well there will be another line on that post for this year's flood and here are pictures of what it looks like when the road disappears...
The ducks definitely won't be coming back any time soon. P.S. Comment on the 10K Lakes Festival cause it will be awesome!!

Wow, that's crazy. How much higher did the water go than the marking on the post?
Oh man, I just read that the flooding might still go up and possibly go over the levees. Is your house in danger of being flooded?
WOW! Good thing you guys live on top of that hill! I've been hearing so many stories of hail and floods and storms of death. Global climate change or just weather patterns?

my house is in no danger of being flooded cause it's far uphill from the river. i'm really only affected by all the road closings. still, you're right, marge that there are a lot of levees breaking south of us because of the amount of pressure being put on them. there were people putting up sandbag levees a week before the flood hit and they just can't handle the mighty mississippi. the good news for this area is that the water is starting to recede and move south. we'll have to see where the new mark on the post will be...i bet it will be close to the record.
this has been a record year for t-storms, lightning (kevin, remember the strobe lights on the highway?), tornadoes, and therefore, deaths related to all of the above. so if u hear the sirens, head to the basement!!
and kata, asian brown cloud has already begun to stink its way into the midwest. it's only a matter of time (dun dun dun)...
